Australian up-and-comers

Finalists of the LMFF National Graduate Showcase, are usually a good indicator of names to look out for in the future, and for 2012 finalist Amelia Agosta, there is no exception.

You can tell from Amelia's showcase (for those who haven't seen, do a quick Google search) that she loves to think outside the box with her designs; take this blazer that I just purchased from her as an example (Note: photos don't do it justice):

A classic looking blazer from the front, however the details in the back are like no other.

When wearing a blazer, the layers underneath often get lost, however with this blazer the under garment has a chance to shine.

Pair this combo with your favourite jeans, and presto you have just dressed up your outfit.

Amelia's other accolades include hosting a collection of clothing at Sportsgirl (where this jacket was purchased), and also designing the sculptural outfit that Ricki-Lee Coulter wore on the album cover of 'Fear & Freedom'.

We can't wait to see what else Amelia has in store for the future.

Look for Less: Marc Jabobs

Fallen in love with Marc Jacobs chain wrist? Fallen out of love with the price?

Well prepare to reignite the romance with thanks to Lovisa.

Lovisa have a Marc Jacobs look for less for only $2 (and no that is NOT a typo).

Seeing double?

Spring Fashion: Trend Alert

Forget the hats, push aside the fascinators, this Spring Fashion Carnival 2013 will be all about the head pieces.

These head pieces can be found from labels such as Mimco, House of Harlow; to lower end priced pieces from Asos and Lovisa.

Pair this look with your hair down - both straight and curled hair works.

The head pieces are now available in a multitude of colours (such as gold, silver, gunmetal), a multitude of embellishments (pearls, diamonties, coins etc.), so you are bound to find a style that suits your dress.

Will you be ahead of the trend this racing season?

Who is Alexandre Vauthier?

So after my last post, there was much hype around the genius that is ‘Alexandre Vauthier’.
Here is a sneak preview from Vauthier’s last collection:

That dress is amazing, right?!

As you can see  the collection is polished, and as like all Vauthier’s runways, have a common theme which pulls together the collection.

In the collection shown we can see that like me, Vauthier is a fan of black. By mixing textures such a sequins, mesh, and hardware (the hardware in the neck pieces matches the hardware of all the shoes worn in the collection) Vauthier has showcased an elegant, and edgy collection.
Vauthier themes each of his runways – the collection featured was all black, the runway prior to this was all white.
After Rita Ora’s Vauthier debut, I think Vauthier’s clientele will significantly increase.

MTV wrap up

For me, award shows mean only one thing...a red carpet!

Today the MTV VMA awards were held in America. Usually known for its more casual attire (in comparison to other music awards such as the Grammy's), this years awards felt a little more dressed up, but of course with an edge.

Just with every red carpet, the VMA's showcased the good, the bad, and everything in between.

The Good

Leading the pack of the 'The Good' category is Rita Ora. Rita is not notorious for her glitzy, girly glam, so she really surprised us when she arrived in Alexandre Vauthier's 2013 Fall Couture gown.

Now that is a train!

Joining Rita Ora at the top, is Miss Taylor Swift.

She may not be able to keep a boyfriend, but boy does Taylor look good in Herve Leger's signature bandage dress style.

The Bad

I think the term 'Bad' was taken to a whole new level this year. Check out this super sheer dress (way too much information), paired with a turban.

Erin Wasson it is time to fire your stylist.

Also in the firing line, is Katy Perry. Yes, the turtle neck leopard print dress, with the 3D dragonflies were all kinds of wrong, but it was Katy's teeth bling that really had us running.

Katy, leave the 'Grillz' upto the rappers...please!?

The In-between

Look for Less: Giuseppe Zanotti

Why pay full price when you can find a cheaper alternative?

Today's Look for Less are both courtesy of the Society of Chic.

A hot ticket item for all ladies feet, is a Giuseppe Zanotti shoe.

Let's take Giuseppe Zanotti's Gold Drops Flat shoe for $1325.00
A gorgeous shoe that I can purchase from Society of Chic for $128.

What's the difference you may ask? Well apart from the $1,197 cost difference, the Giuseppe Zanotti shoe (bottom) has the GZ signature on it - that's it!

Next, Sass and Bide's Free Styling dress for $750 (bottom left).
I could pay $750 for the dress, but thanks to Society of Chic, I can get a similar dress for only $88 (that's a saving of $662!).

Now what to buy with all these savings?

Races

The start of Spring only means one thing....the races!

To give you some inspiration, here is a white-on-white look I put together.

It all started when I spotted this gorgeous Ted Baker dress. It reminded me of a Jaton gown that Rozalia Russian wore to her wedding reception.

Would you wear white to the races?

Special mention to the amazing Sass and Bide clutch.

Today's purchase

Dress it down with jeans, or dress it up over a dress, I LOVE a blazer.

This is not just any blazer though, this is a sequinned blazer (very Rachel Zoe I know).

And unlike other sequinned blazers (eg. the one for $120 from Wish) it does not irritate your skin, due to the lining used.

Retailing for $180 at Kookai, and available in black or gold, this is a staple for any girls wardrobe.

To receive 20% off any Kookai items, show the girls on check-out the Kookai voucher that I have posted on my Instagram (@jspstyling).

Kissable

If you are in the market for a new light coloured pink gloss, well you are in luck!

Introducing two Mac colours, both which are stickyless, and both which are priced at $43.00 (AUD).

First we have the new collection of Sheen Glass pens. It is as easy as winding the end of the pen to release more gloss

1) Sheen Supreme Lipglass Tint in Bubblegum

Note: in person the colour is a lot more lighter than what is shown in the image above, however this is still more pink than the Cremesheen Glass that we are moving onto.

The Cremesheen Glass is a core mac lipgloss line, and today I was introduced to a beautiful pink gloss. This shade was originally brought in as limited edition shade in December 2011 (as part of the Daphne Guinness collection), however due to its popularity is now a permanent colour.

2) Creamsheen Glass in Japanese Spring Tint

Note: Don't be deceived, the lipgloss may look lilac in the container, however when tried on, is a beautiful pink colour (similar to Fashion Scoop).

Add these lipglosses to your collection for the perfect soft pink lip, or layer up your lipstick for a glossy finish (bonus - there is no shimmer in these glosses, shimmer is "so last year")

These boots were made for walking

I have just discovered that Tony Bianco make custom boots.

And not just any boots, boots designed by Alex Perry.

The collaboration is aligned to the up and coming fashion week.

These amazing thigh high, twelve centimeter heeled, kid suede, lace up boots are a must in any girls wardrobe.

For $419.95, you can own a pair of these lace up boots (which are distinctively different from the stereotypical "thigh high boots" that you would find in low budget films...) in either camel or black.

Over who? Overall

The most hyped about phase that fashion is going through is the revival of the overall.

I remember having a pair of overalls growing up, and never envisioned that I would don a pair of denim full length overalls ever again.

I do think the short overalls can be pulled off by most ladies with a flat Senso boot.

The leather-look overalls are more wearable for the anti-denimers out there (yes - they exist!).

What are your thoughts on the overall? Should the remain in the past? Or should we dust off our old pair?

See my Vest, See my Vest

So we all know that the vest has come back into fashion.

First we saw the leather vest from Sportsgirl, now Sportsgirl have brought back the denim vest, and Witchery have brought out the tailored vest.

Whatever your style, dress up your basics with a vest that suits you.

J-Bronze

For all you ladies who want to be one step closer to looking like the amazing Jennifer Hawkins (who wouldn't?), you can now get Jen's glow with thanks to her very own self-tanning line;  J-Bronze.

From mousses, to creams, to sprays, to illuminators - J-Bronze has it all (and in 2 shades too! Medium and Dark).

These bronzing tools are available in Priceline stores, Chemist warehouse, My Chemist, as well as smaller pharmacies.

The range is priced from $24.95 up to $39.95.

J-Bronze insiders have said that for a noticeable result, more than one layer will need to be applied to the skin.

Have you tried the range? Let me know what you think on Instagram @jspstyling or email jspstyling@gmail.com

Look for Less: Chanel

Now that the warmer weather is finally approaching, it is time to reconsider your wardrobe.

At the top of most women's list is the Chanel Espadrille.

For some people, spending around $500 on a flat shoe is not an option, which is why I have found you a cheaper alternative for only $99 from Seed.

The age old question

Question: What do you get when you cross a cape with a leather jacket?

Answer: A capther? A leathepe? Whatever you are calling it, it is a genius combination.

Look for Less: Jennifer Hawkins

Anyone who gawked over how amazing Jennifer Hawkins looked in Sass & Bide on the Myer red carpet for season 2014, can now shop her dress for a much cheaper price.

Cue the Sportsgirl Geo Exotica Dress for $89.95:

And for those who loved Jen's shoes (Miss Kourtney pumps - white and rose gold), you can shop them at Peeptoe from the 21st August for $229.

Wardrobe additions

Here are the 2 items that I just purchased from Sportsgirl.

These super cute cuffed 'Tuxedo' shorts for $69.95.

Note: these are to be worn loose, and not skin tight.
The main reason for wanting these shorts, is to create a suit look with my wardrobe full of blazers.
The blazer will dress up the shorts, as well as the shoes I have bought to go with it.

These sling-back peeptoe wedges, are not only sky high, but they are totally walkable.
You know the shoes you categorise as "sit down" shoes (eg. only to be worn when going out to dinner, where there is very little walking), well these definitely don't fit into this category.

And here is what they look like paired together:

The time has come

A big warm welcome to the new season Chanel nail colours to Australia.

I have fallen in love with Mysterious - which one is your fave?

Undecided? Well maybe these swatches can help make up your mind:

1) Alchimie
Described as "golden khaki"

2) Elixir
Described as "milky pink"

3) Mysterious
Described as "dark khaki"

Look for Less

They say that imitation is the biggest form of flattery. Well today Giuseppe Zanotti and Celine, prepare for some compliments.

Ex-SHOES-me, but when I saw the 'Acustic - Black Chicago' shoe from Tony Bianco, I immediately thought he was trying to "flatter" Mr. Giuseppe Zanotti.

The main difference between these heels is that one is $190 (left) and the other is $1,571 (right).

Pretty good match, if I do say so myself.

Now, the next imitation has been increasingly uploaded onto nearly every girls Instragram newsfeed with comments like "I wish", and "Make this mine". Well now my Celine Trio Messenger bag fans, you can be one step closer to having this look, with thanks to Mimco.

In terms of price, the Mimco 'Secret Couch' well set you back $200, whereas the Celine will cost you approximately $1150.

If you have any specific items that you want me to find a cheaper alternative to, email me on jspstyling@gmail.com, or comment me on Instragram @jspstyling - I love a challenge!

About time

Welcome back leather (or in this case 'pleather') vest.

I am surprised you have taken this long to resurface, as your cousin the leather jacket, has been all around town this winter.

I guess you were waiting for spring, before you decided to bloom.

Hey, don't get me wrong, we are totally OK with this.

Your first official spotting was made this week at Sportsgirl.

Before no time you will be popping up in all different stores, with companies using different variations of you, and selling you at various price points.

However for people that want to be on-trend before the followers start mimicking, I suggest they snap you up now!

Look for Less

Today's 'Look for Less' was requested from one of my lovely readers.

The first look, is something that I've talked about before, and something that I would happily welcome into my collection - the Celine ID bracelet.

The Celine retails for around $1000 (left), and it's Doppleganger from Nicholas retails for $100.

Next, the Gucci Victoire sandal retails for around $700 (left), and its twin from Zu Shoes retails for $120.

Thanks for the email, and happy shopping!
