Arm candy

It’s true I’m having a party! Whether your thick or thin, black or white, you’re all invited. The more the merrier! This is my wrist doing the talking, btw.

Who doesn’t love some arm candy? As you know it’s all about the wrist. Mix old pieces with new pieces, small pieces with larger pieces, coloured pieces with dark pieces.

An arm party acts as you focal piece. No need to pair this look with necklaces or ring, this is the star attraction.

I’ve put together 6 pieces – divided into silver and gold, from the highest price to lowest price point, to help you begin to mix and match.

Silver:

The only time you can refer to something on a woman as being chunky, can either relate to her scarf or her cuff (for all the males out there, make a mental note). This Collier de Chien from Hermes, is the modern twist to the classic leather band with silver or gold hardware.  Don’t be afraid to mix this piece with other coloured metals. Remember, anyone can wear studs – you don’t have to have your nose pierced, or jet black hair.

These click-clack enamel bangles come in any size and colour imaginable. One of the easiest pieces to wear in this collection. Wear all your H’s together for a casual look, or mix and match them with the other pieces featured for a more formal look. This bangle not only makes a great guest at an arm party, but also makes the perfect present. Trust me, any girl that is given one of these babies in an orange box will put you at the top of her guest list.

There is always one friend that brings the least expensive drink to a party (yes you know who that is), well this House of Harlow piece is that friend. The collection created by Nicole Richie is one that is easily sourced in stores, and comes in many different coloured leathers, with either silver or gold hardware. Best thing about this bangle, is that you can buy a whole stack of these, and you won’t break the bank.

Gold:

The big C word…Cartier. Appropriately named the ‘Love’ bracelet, this gorgeous piece is recognisable on nearly all celebrities. That doesn’t mean that you can’t afford these pieces (the celebrities either have multiples of these bracelets, or will have the diamond encrusted version). The ‘Love’ bangle, that gets locked onto your wrist via a Cartier scew (if you are going to own a screwdriver, you want it to be Cartier) comes in white gold, platinum, rose gold and gold. If you are going to splurge on only one bangle, this is the classic bangle  that will last you a lifetime.

This Celine gold ID bracelet, shows that you can be a little ‘gangsta’ without having the ability to rap like Kanye West. This bangle (which I won’t tell you has a matching necklace) comes in silver and gold. A perfect addition to any arm party.

And for those of you who love a splash of colour, this YSL cuff is for you. Again, this cuff comes in gold and silver, and a multitude of coloured stones (although the turquoise is my favourite!). The best thing about this piece is that every stone differs slightly, so even though you and your friend will both have a turquoise cuff, due to the natural elements in the stone, each piece will have a different finish. Think of it as your own couture cuff.

Remember there are no rules when it comes to arm candy. No combination is “wrong”. Have fun with your bangles and cuff. Email me your favourite combo jspstyling@gmail.com
