One Stop Corporate Shop

A reader contacted me asking advice on her wardrobe.

She had 3 requirements:

a) She worked in a corporate environment, and needed something formal but fashion forward
b) She only wore neutral colours; and
c) It all had to come from the one store

I had 2 words for her “Challenge accepted”

Look A -
‘The Grand Scene Dress’
Ivory (and black details)
Sizes 36-44
$590

‘The Maiden Voyage Silk Jacket’
Black
Sizes 36-44
$490

This black and ivory combo is a symmetrical dream. I can’t fault this dress. It is an appropriate length for work and it doesn’t give your male counterparts anything to stare at in the bust section (there is always that one creepy guy in the office). As for the jacket, this has the most gorgeous tailoring – have you seen the shoulders? Accentuated, but not to the point where you feel like you are in the 80’s. This jacket also has a button-up front (no hook and eye clasp - tick).

Look B -
‘Burst The Bubble Dress’
Black
Sizes 36-44
$490

‘Two Dimensions Jacket’
 Ivory (and black details)
 Sizes 36-44
 $550

Although this dress has the ‘peak-a-boo’ shoulders, this is the only thing this office friendly dress will be showing. With long sleeves, this dress is cooler-weather friendly. Again this dress is an appropriate length, not short enough to see your ‘Britney’, not long enough to be mistaken for a nun. To break up this black number, I have an incorporated an ivory jacket (look a little familiar?). I’m sorry but this blazer was screaming my name. This deep V-shape jacket will allow your dress to still shine (the point of a jacket is not to cover up the beautiful garment underneath). The symmetrical peplum detail is gorgeous, and then when you spin around you will notice that the length of the back is shorter than the front.

So you now have the most enviable outfits of the office (feels good, huh?). All 4 items nailed the brief, and can be mixed and matched with my readers current wardrobe. The garments are not skin tight, yet they are not loose and baggy, so they will flatter different body types. You will see that both the dresses have their own take on ‘peplum’, to hide the tummy area (females most hated body part – here here!). You will definitely not feel like your typical, frumpy office lady in these outfits. You also know that with the amount of money you are spending, you are getting high quality items, that will last in your wardrobe (not that they should be hanging in their too often!)

These items can be bought both instore and online, and you are helping boost the Australian economy (one of my favourite excuses to justify my spendings).

To my lovely reader that sent in this request, I hope you liked my choices for you, and would love to see some snaps of you rocking this look. For any other fashion inquiries email me at jspstyling@gmail.com

I am off to Sass and Bide to pick up my Two Dimension Jacket….
